Two people were critically injured Thursday night during a shooting in Kent and the gunman remains on the loose.

The shooting occurred at the Country Squire Apartments, 10835 S.E. 200th St., just before 8:15 p.m., the Kent Police Department reported.

Paramedics took two victims to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were described as men in their late 30s. Both had life threatening injuries, police reported.

The investigation was underway. No arrest or motive has been released.

The Kent Police Department has not released a description of the suspect.

UPDATE: Kent Police Detectives continue to work through a number of leads as they attempt to identify the shooter or shooters involved in last evenings assault at a local apartment complex.

The men, a 38-year-old Renton resident and a 37-year-old resident of the apartment complex, both sustained life threatening injuries. As of this update, their condition remains serious.

Police have learned that the incident started with a dispute in the parking lot of the apartment complex and that it involved several people. Moments later, shots rang out. One victim collapsed at the scene, while the other fled to a nearby residence.

“Indications are that the people involved in this incident knew each other and it was not a random crime.” said Sergeant Pat Lowery.
