Two Pierce County Superior Court judges were honored this week by statewide associations.

The Washington Women Lawyers honored Judge Elizabeth Martin with its “Passing the Torch” award.

The award recognizes efforts to mentor women attorneys and “to promote equal rights and opportunities for women and to prevent discrimination against them,” according to a press release issued by Pierce County.

The Asian Bar Association of Washington honored Judge Linda Lee with its “Judge of the Year” award.

The award recognizes judges who support “the legal needs and interests of the Asian Pacific American community by promoting justice, equity and opportunity for Asian Pacific Americans,” according to a press release issued by Pierce County.

“We are proud of both Judge Lee and Judge Martin for their outstanding community involvement,” Presiding Judge Bryan Chushcoff said.

    Reread this…

‘excellence’ is on the basis of being a woman, and a judge, as decided by a coalition of women judges? And excellence consists in the other case of being a woman judge of a certain race?

What is going on in our society? that means these same groups deride other judges who aren’t women or aren’t Asian.

And society is OK with this?

This is outrageous…….Asian Pacific Bar Association??. Is there a Muslim Bar Association and Muslim Judges Association. ??? Would an Asian Judge rule in favor of someone because they are Asian? Our founding fathers must be rolling over in their grave. This is discrimination against anyone that is not Asian Pacific or female. How about a Swedish Association for advancement to the bench for Swedes. How about a Gay Asociation of/for Judges who are gay..
Have we gone soooo Politically Correct that we lost to…… pro discrimination? By honoring these 2 judges you have dis-honored the Judicial System and damaged our third brance of government. god save us.

Adam Lynn………..Washinton Women Lawyers Assoc ……….. is there a Washington Mens Lawyers Assoc????????????

  4. I just wonder why anyone would be against any such organization such as the Asian Bar Association, or ANY such organization that promotes excellence among it’s members or peers.
Why are you so angered over the existence of such organizations? Why do you care? If you were to receive an award of some sort from the “Overly Excitable While Male Bigots Club, I doubt that the Asian Bar Association of Wash. would even make note of the occasion.

@papasan it is about hate, some people have alot of hate in them. They feel oppressed by minorities and feel fear of losing majority in this multicultural nation we have. A pity, their mother’s should be ashamed of themselves.
