A motorcyclist was killed south of Kent on Tuesday night after colliding with an SUV, the Kent Fire Department and King County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The accident took place at 5 p.m. in the 4600 block of S. 272nd Street. The SUV’s driver, a 37-year-old woman from Louisiana, was stopped on South 272nd Street and was headed eastbound. She waited to turn north onto 46th Avenue South, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

“She thought she saw a break in the traffic and turned into the path of the oncoming motorcycle,” the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The motorcyclist, a 34-year-old Auburn man, died at the scene. He had been wearing a helmet.

The investigation of the crash shut down both directions of South 272nd Street between Lake Fenwick Road and 42nd Avenue South.

The SUV driver was not injured in the crash. Neither speed, alcohol nor drugs appeared to be factors in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

  1. its articles like this one that makes a person wonder why articles like this are published? almost like just another piece of filler for an otherwise empty newspaper. sympathys to the riders family and friends.

Please please please, take just an extra moment to take a 2nd look to make sure there are no motorcycles when you are turning or changing lanes. We don’t have a cage to protect us. Thank you
