Tacoma police have arrested a man suspected in at least two convenience store robberies in recent days in the city.

Officers arrested the 25-year-old man shortly after 1:15 p.m. today in the area of Tyler and Center streets, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Investigators believe the man robbed the Stop In Grocery, 3908 Sixth Ave., on Monday night and Union Corner Grocery, 4501 S. Union Ave., Tuesday afternoon. In both incidents, the robber was armed with a handgun.

Investigators believe the man also might be responsible for robberies, Fulghum said.

Detectives had developed information that the suspect might be hanging out in the area of Center and Tyler streets. They were watching the area Thursday afternoon when the suspect was spotted, Fulghum said.

The man was taken into custody without incident.
