Tacoma firefighters plan Saturday event to honor 9/11 heroes, victims

The Tacoma Fire Department will host its annual tribute Saturday to the emergency workers and victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The local remembrance ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at the Firefighter’s Memorial, 3301 Ruston Way, in Tacoma. The prelude begins at 8:45 a.m.

The event is open to the public and will include speeches from Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland, Tacoma Fire Chief Ron Stephens and Tom Minor, a retired major with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
