Pierce County sheriff’s deputies are looking for the driver who hit and injured a pedestrian Wednesday night just east of Tacoma.

The incident occurred just after 8:10 p.m. in the 4200 block of 72nd Street East, the Sheriff’s Department reported.

A 20-year-old man was running from a driveway into the roadway and was hit by a vehicle going east on 72nd Street East. The vehicle didn’t stop and continued on.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not considered life threatening, deputies reported.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a small, possibly silver SUV. It might have front-end damage.

Investigators suspect the driver might not have known the man was hit because he was wearing dark clothing and it was dark outside.

Anyone with information about the driver, vehicle or the incident is asked to contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department at 253-798-4721.
