A man armed with a gun robbed a West End mini mart this morning, the Tacoma Police Department reported.

The robbery occurred around 5:40 a.m. at Taggers Mini Mart, 6615 S. 12th St. The robber wielded a gun and took money and cigarettes from the store, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The suspect left the store on foot. Officers set up a perimeter in the area and a police dog conducted a track. The dog did not find the suspect, Fulghum said.

The suspect was described as a black man about 5 feet 8 with a medium build. He wore a black sweatshirt or jacket, blue jeans and had a mustache, Fulghum said.

Officers looked at the surveillance video of the robbery. The incident didn’t appear to be related to robberies at Tacoma convenience stores on Monday or Tuesday, Fulghum said.

“and took money and cash from the store”

Is there a difference ? Does anyone proof read these ?

Hmmm…. wonder if it’s related to another robbery that happened last week. Last Wednesday at 5:30 in the morning and nearby, no less.

“‘The dog did not find the suspect’, Fulghum said.”

Have TPD dogs found anything? I have yet to read an article say they have. The manhunt in Everett last week ended with the assistance of dogs.

Perhaps our dogs are put off by the Tacoma aroma.
