I got a call this morning from a man who lives in the North End. He reported seeing a handful of Tacoma police cars set up around the 1200 block of North Fife Street.

What was that all about?

Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum reports that officers had responded to a report of an interrupted burglary about 7:45 a.m.

A neighbor told officers that he confronted two suspected burglars in the 1700 block of North Steele Street and they fled, Fulghum said.

Officers set up a perimeter in the area. A police dog searched for the burglars but did not locate them.

The burglars were described as black and in their teens. They stood 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall. One had a medium build; the other was heavier, Fulghum said. Both wore sweatshirts and shorts.

The investigation was continuing.

“interrupted burglary ” – were they in the house, breaking into a garage, or taking lawn furniture from a patio? It would give those in the neighborhood a much better idea if there are dangerous criminals in the neighborhood or just some hooligan kids.
