King County sheriff’s detectives need the public’s help in identifying two men who broke into a Vashon Island home earlier this month, tied up the homeowner and pistol whipped him.

The Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of the suspects today in hopes that someone recognizes them and calls police.

The home-invasion robbery occurred about 6:30 a.m. Aug. 19. The 46-year-old man had been asleep in the home in the 9400 block of Southwest Gorsuch Road when two masked men burst into the bedroom and tied the victim up with duct tape, deputies reported.

The robbers repeatedly demanded money and hit the victim on the head several times. They threatened to shoot the man if he didn’t tell them where the money was, deputies reported.

The robbers ransacked the home and found a small safe in a bedroom closet. They forced the victim to open the safe and took a few hundred dollars that had been tucked inside. They also grabbed a laptop before leaving, deputies reported.

The victim crawled to a toolbox and used a pair of wire cutters to cut off the duct tape. He had a video surveillance system, which captured images of the robbers.

The suspects are described as men in their 20s and about 200 pounds. One stood about 5 feet 10 and wore glasses under his mask; the other was 6 feet 1.

Anyone with information is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311 or 911.

They obviously knew there was a video system. Somebody familiar. Maybe somebody who was paid to do some kind of work or visits often. Or some acquaintance of a younger relative. (This won’t take long.)
