Two twisted 5,000-pound steel beams from the wreckage of the Twin Towers made their way through Pierce County today, attracting a lot of attention with its motorcade of 800 motorcycles.
The beams left New York on Aug. 10 and are being delivered to Silverdale tonight. The Kitsap community requested them nine months ago, wanting to display them in a public place to remind people of 9/11 and educate those too young to remember.
A permanent location has not yet been decided.
The beams were wrapped in American flags and escorted by the Patriot Guard when they passed through Pierce County about 4 p.m. Hundreds stood on bridges, holding flags and waving, wanting to see a part of history and show support to those in the motorcade.
A full story will be in The News Tribune tomorrow.

Of course, the Tacoma City Council would never have thought to ask for some beams- too busy passing resolutions to support illegal aliens!
A little morbid, IMO. Death-fixation is the mindset of our regressive radical enemies, remember that.
@trustsatan Well us tea party members must fixate on radical ideas to win the hearts and mind of the American people. Don’t you know we are trying to defend the first amendment! Well, only if you aren’t a Muslim and want to build a community center by ground zero.
