Thurston County sheriff’s investigators are searching for a 46-year-old man accused of beating his girlfriend Thursday outside of Yelm.

A warrant has been issued for Garrett R. West on allegations of first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping, car theft and felony harassment, the Sheriff’s Office reported today.

Investigators believe West severely beat his girlfriend, held her against her will and dragged her into her house off 158th Avenue Southeast near Lawrence Lake on Thursday. He allegedly threatened to kill her and her adult son and strangled her until she went unconscious.

West allegedly took the woman’s minivan and drove off. She was treated for her injuries at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia and released.

West was arrested in June on suspicion of assaulting the woman.

He’s described as 6 feet tall and 185 pounds, with gray hair and green eyes. West could be driving a white 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with Washington license plate No. 114WHC.

Deputies encourage anyone with information on West’s whereabouts to call 911.  Anonymous tipsters also can call Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222.
