Tacoma firefighters rescued a man Monday night after he’d gone over the bank near the Puyallup River.

Paramedics checked out the man at the scene. He was not taken to a hospital, the Tacoma Fire Department reported on its blog.

The incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. Monday. The man called 911 on his cell phone and requested help. He guided fire crews to 20th Street East and Pacific Highway East. Firefighters found the man along the bank of the Puyallup River.

“Once the technical rescue systems were in place, the victim was assisted to the road above the bank,” the department reported.

You can find pictures of the rescue on the Fire Department’s blog.
