COLLISION: northbound I-5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord

A collision on northbound Interstate 5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord is resulting in stop-and-go traffic.

The accident happened at 3:35 p.m. The back-ups extend approximately five miles south from Thorne LaneĀ  to DuPont. Incident response crews and WSP are on scene.

4:10 UPDATE: The backups extend approximately nine miles to the Nisqually River Bridge. Drivers during the evening commute should expect delays on northbound I-5 throughout the area.

4:40 UPDATE: Backups reach 11 miles near the Nisqually River Bridge.

5:45 p.m. UPDATE: Backups remain at 11 miles. Heavy traffic is expected throughout the evening commute.
