A Tacoma police patrol car was vandalized early today parked outside the officer’s North End home, the department reported.
The car’s windows were smashed out and three of the tires slashed. The vandals spraypainted the rear panel and trunk area with the words, “Oscar Grant was here,” Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
The officer interrupted the vandals, who ran off. A police dog searched the area but didn’t find the suspects, Fulghum said.
The vandals were described as men wearing hooded sweatshirts. The patrol car was towed to Tacoma police headquarters for processing, Fulghum said.
The graffiti was a reference to the fatal shooting of Grant in California early on Jan. 1, 2009. He was not armed. The officer was found not guilty of second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter Thursday. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
The verdict led to protests and scores of arrests overnight in Oakland.

Sounds like MORE malcontents in Tacoma just needed an excuse to do something stupid. The officer in Tacoma had nothing to do with the incident in Oakland. Hey Zombie, have you ever had your car broken into by way of your windows being broken? I have, and I didn’t hear a thing. You think because the officer didn’t hear this while he/she was SLEEPING that means Tacoma has “one of the worst police crews in the country.”? Really?
I hope one day you get pulled over for talking on your cell, mouth off to the officer, and end of getting hauled off to jail by a half-a-cop (as you put it) and you drop the soap. You’re a disrespectful fool that wouldn’t have the stones to be a police officer if your salary was six figures.
While I agree the verdict was a joke, what is tearing up your city and stealing from store owners who had nothing to do with the crime or the verdict? Bunch of thugs looking for their 15 minutes. The verdict was wrong but what the punks did was also wrong. Arrest them all.

These trouble makers will look for anything to cause trouble. No matter what it is. They look for an excuse to cause trouble. I bet they were black, I do not want to profile and it is not about race. But it seems to me that some people here have a beef against the police that are doing their job. They do not need to go out and cause damage to the city. The taxpayers have to pay for it.

The thing about this is that those who had an actual beef with the ruling protested completely peacefully in an effort to make their voices heard.
What, unfortunately, we are seeing is that hooligans who don’t give a crap about any issues and just want to smash things have begun to mingle in with the legitimate protesters. The black-clad thugs at the G20 in Canada, the ones who smashed store windows in Cali, and the people who vandalized this car- they’re the same ones. They have no vested interest in any issues, they’re a strange sort of thug who simply want to cause damage.

Well smolderc, you ask what California has to do with tbhis? Ifd you ask any gang enforcement officers they’ll tell you. As some of CA companies moved up here because of less taxes (if ygou can believe that,) they brought their families who had gang members in them. They realied the Northwest was an untaped drug market. Maybe we as the state of Washington should boycot all of CA goods and dealings for something more criminal then Arizonias law to enforce FED immigration laws.
