My heart and prayers goes out to her family AND the driver.

  2. I always find it odd that every time a vehicle accident is reported, it seems that a point is made to indicate it was caused by an SUV.

No I dont own one, or drive one. It just seems silly.

It would seem those danged SUVs are just out it get us.

How about reporting that accidents are caused by idiotic screwballs who havent got a clue as to how to get down the road with an ounce of courtesy and care.

Dcr628; if the vehicle was a truck, it would have said truck. It if was a car, it would have said car. If it were a van…well, you get my point.

Also, what’s with you hostility towards the driver? Maybe poor Gertrude was jaywalking. After all, she stepped into the road from between two parked cars. Doesn’t sound like she crossed at the crosswalk to me.

How about the fact that Stacey Mulick doesn’t know what caused the accident and was strictly reporting the known facts?

My thoughts go out to Gertrude and the driver. Terrible accident.

I live on 6th near Wright Park and the traffic on 6th moves very fast through our residential neighborhood. A light at 6th and Yakima, where the two lions welcome people into the park, and there is a lot of pedestrian traffic, would help slow things a little and increase safety. A light would also discourage the “cut through” traffic that avoids the light at I and 6th. by coming down the narrow single lane bit of Yakima approaching 6th.

I would lump them in with the idiots that don’t look both ways, jaywalk, bicyclists who don’t stop for stop signs, and kids skateboarding in the street.

Anyhow, my condolences to the families of both parties.

@Dcr628, you must be one stupid blind person. Open your eyes wider. You will see many reckless drivers on the road these days. And the majority of those idiots drives small, fast, suped up sports coupes! I drive a big SUV, and I see these cars following me too close as if they’re going to hit me from behind. Well, this is what I want to tell them. You want to hit me? Go ahead. You’ll suffer a lot more damage than my SUV. Plus, you’re going to pay for a few scratches on my bumper. Since it’s a newer luxury SUV, you’ll have to pay my insurance company A LOT!!!!!!

  7. be careful when passing a stopped city bus too….passengers get off & walk in front of the bus for some suicidal reason to get across the street b4 the bus leaves..i saw a woman picked off by a cable truck one day..he was passing the bus, i was behind him..she came out of nowhere..didn’t even look!…driver was unconsolable…….everyone ran to the woman..i went to the cable guy..he was slumped down on the ground crying his heart out..i told him to call his job & his wife & accident was not his fault……i saw one of his coworkers a year later and asked about the 1st guy…he said 1st guy wld still tear up when asked about it..changed his life…if i hadn’t seen it with my own eyes i’d never believed someone cld be that careless ..on pacific avenue at less…this is why you can’t pass a stopped school bus … ..

  8. when i say careless , above, i mean the woman , not the poor guy who hit her.

I knew Gertrude personally, and I think it’s a horrible tragedy, for both Trudy, and for the driver. They have to live with the knowledge that they killed someone, even though by accident. That would be horrible to live with. My heart goes out to friends and family of Trudy, may she rest in peace, and to the driver.
