Lakewood police are searching for a man suspected of sneaking into a woman’s apartment and  sexually assaulting her last week.

The department released a composite sketch of the suspect today.

The incident occurred the night of June 25. The woman, a mother of two, stepped out of her apartment in the 11400 block of 105th Avenue Southwest for less than a minute to empty the trash, police reported.

She returned and shut the door. She was immediately attacked by a man she didn’t know. He overpowered her and sexually assaulted her as her small children slept in another room, police reported.

The victim struggled. She was eventually able to kick the suspect and stopped the sexual assault.

The attacker ran from the apartment’s back door and the woman called 911. She was treated at a local hospital for her injuries, police reported.

The attacker was described as white, 25 years old and about 5 feet 10 with a medium build. He had red hair.

Lakewood police ask anyone with information on the attacker’s identity to call investigator Martin Knott at 253-830-5055.
