Tacoma police were searching for three young men suspected of robbing a South End bookstore this morning.

One of the robbers was reportedly armed with a knife.

The men entered the Park Avenue Bookstore, 8304 S. Park Ave., just before 11:30 a.m. They took money from the cash register and fled out the back door, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The owner reported to officers the suspects had been hanging around the bookstore in previous weeks, taking small items, Fulghum said.

A police dog and officers searched for the suspects but were not able to locate them.

The robbers were described as in their late teens. All had a medium build and they stood between 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 9. Two wore dark-colored hats and clothes. The third wore a baseball hat backward and red shorts, Fulghum said.

These are dropout losers from that neighborhood that probably cannot even read a book.

  2. Marie220 says:

If you’re trying to get any sort of real money, a small, indie bookstore would not seem to be the place to rob.

  3. firecap81 says:

You didn’t finish the description. Are you picking up the cowardly PC approach of the Seattle Times?

  4. pjbalaska says:

Pretty PC description all right….ridiculous. Perps can change clothes and hats…can’t change their ethnicity. If they are white…..the lack of a racial description actually contributes to racism, as most will assume they are black or latino

    Which they probably are.

  5. The trio (not the robbers) the bloggers regularly fail to mention the skin tone unless it happens to be white. They are sadly what is considered the norm for a reporter these days.

  6. agent8698 says:

Absolutely ridiculous (the fact that the ethnicity of the robbers is being deliberately withheld by the News Tribune). That’s a bigger story than the robbery.

  7. arienstar93 says:

The article states of the suspects, “two wore hats and clothes.” Yee-haw!!, now.
Do you think if they were not wearing clothes, they would be easier to identify? I guess if the store owners don’t speak english, it would certainly be difficult to obtain a legitimate description of the little punks.

one was black one was mexican one was asian and the fourth one caucasian but they thought the white guy was an innocent shopper..
