Tacoma police arrested 10 men during a prostitution sting last week along the southern end of Pacific Avenue.

Residents and business owners in the area of 92nd Street and Pacific Avenue had been complaining about prostitution activity, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The department’s special investigations unit, gang team, the Sector 4 community liaison officers, other officers and federal immigration agents conducted an undercover prostitution operation in the area Thursday.

The officers arrested 10 men on suspicion of soliciting prostitution, Fulghum said. Of those, five were determined to be illegal aliens and handled over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, he added.

Another 18 men were contacted after officers suspected they were loitering in the for the purposes of prostitution.

The operation was funded by the city’s community based services program, Fulghum said.

Prostitution ,robbery, burglary ,drug use and drug dealing all are connected. That is why it must stop.Do they even think about diseases?

  2. Kevindot1 says:

Thank you TPD! Keep up the good work!

  3. Prostitution must be LEGALIZED, as should all other victimless crimes. THAT is the way to minimize the spread of diseases and real crimes such as robbery, burglary etc.

  4. slasmith says:

No one better tell the city council that criminals were handed over to immigration. Next they might try to boycott TPD!

  5. Sure–crack down on the only honest business in the city.

  6. spacedout says:

How come no female pictures? I am looking for my favorite giril friend.

  7. m9078jk3 says:

They arrested 5 illegal aliens. The Tacoma City Council will be upset about that.

  8. I think the illegals were actually looking for a lil frijole and had a language barrier lol….

  9. pungentsound says:

The officers arrested 10 men on suspicion of soliciting prostitution, What arrested for having impure thoughts, suspicion of. Sounds like Sister Immaculate Mary was in charge. Hey are you allowed to ask in Washington state if you are an illegal horn dog?

  10. pjbalaska says:

Formerly I might have joined the chorus against criminalizing this or any other “victimless” crime…..but I guess I’m becoming more conservative as I get older. In any case, at this point in time I personally don’t like to view such “commerce” on the streets and apparently the residents and visitors share that view. It’s a bonus that half of the perps were illegals who now hopefully will be deported.

Funny thing, too. No Arizona law was necessary….just common sense. Not that I personally feel there’s anything wrong with the Arizona law….which merely codifies the aforementioned common sense.

  11. You can’t stop the world’s oldest profession, legalize it, control it, and tax it I say, and everyone will be better off.

  12. Thank you for arresting the five illegals. Now, go get the other thousands.

  13. ffgandarajd says:

I must say, I love spacedout’s comment. Priceless.

  14. How’s about the sensible solution: legalization with regulation. At minimum it protects both the women & their customers from abuse & disease. Based on Nevada, it would also appear to get it off the streets.

For what it’s worth, I have never patronized a prostitute & likely never will, but I think the law is moronic.

  15. BrianMitchell says:

How much of a LOSER are you if you have to pay someone to have sex with you?

  16. pjbalaska says:

Brian…..yeah, there are a lot of men who are “losers”. In fact they won’t realistically be able to attract “someone to have sex” with them. I’d rather they negotiate with a willing seller rather than perhaps rape or molest……

Although as I say I don’t like the street trade….

Try to be a little less judgmental. Not everyone can be as “attractive” as presumably you are….and especially me! The “losers” gotta find love somewhere….somehow…..

  17. How about a meth or heroine sting once in a while?

  18. TonyCrago says:

My guess is that the five who were NOT illegal aliens were all republican family values types who are running for office.

  19. SkeleTony says:

That’s the thing pjbalaska, I will never have need of a prostitute and I don’t like seeing the “street commerce” any more than you do. Which is why I want to see it legalized so the “business” can move to brothels and we who do not want to see such can avoid it(or not…as the case may be).

  20. jluvz269wm says:

You can thank the Feds for closing Fox’s ! Atleast they weren’t doing it in the alleys and walking the street when they were still open. Your tax dollars at work. Now we alll have to look at it in the strrets .

Frank Sr. rest in peace my dear man .

  21. luvmyman says:

When i researched this sting. the undercover prostitute cop waved the cars down. there are so many woman that arent prostitutes these days that meet guys by walking down streets. and alot of men out there aren’t out looking for a nasty prostitute. most of the men i believe just want to meet some females. when you wave a car down thats framing and setting the men up, plus i no that this government wont listen to their side. anything for a quick buck. ya it looks bad for a guy to stop for a female but most of the time its not to get a nasty’s not fair to set these men up. I will keep researching, but everything i have heard and saw was wrong on the operation’s part.. to catch the real people trying to get a hoe is to let them go to you. not wave them down.. no matter what doesn’t seem fare
