Expect rolling slowdowns and up to 15-minute delays Wednesday  night  in both directions on Interstate 5 in Fife, the state Department of Transportation advises.

Crews widening I-5 for HOV lanes in Pierce County will need to close lanes and ramps between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday to install a new sign structure over the freeway.

The northbound 1-5 off-ramp to 54th Avenue closes  from 8 p.m. Wednesday  until 5 a.m. Thursday. A detour route  will direct traffic to exit I-5 at the Port of Tacoma Road.

The right lane of northbound I-5 between the Port of Tacoma Road and Porter Road closes at 7 p.m. Wednesday; two lanes close at 9 p.m. and three lanes close at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. Thursday.

The left lane of southbound I-5 between 54th  Avenue and Port of Tacoma Road closes from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.
