A Kent man who drowned Saturday afternoon in a swimming area at Lake Tapps has been identified.

The official cause of death for Peter Talaga, 32, will be determined Monday, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Talaga was seen going underwater in a roped-off swimming area. Members of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team recovered his body around 4 p.m. and performed CPR, said spokeswoman Lynelle Anderson. He was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m.
