Just wanted to answer a couple of “what was that”-type inquiries I’ve received today.

First, Tacoma police and firefighters responded to a car that had crashed into the side of a gas station in the 4200 block of Center Street.

The driver apparently had a medical emergency and died as a result, police reported.

The second inquiry was regarding the discovery of a body on Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park. A reader called to say he saw the activity a few hours ago while walking his dog in the area.

Tacoma police spokeswoman Gretchen Aguirre reports that the death appears to be a suicide. No other information was immediately available.

I haven’t heard anything else about the body found on Owen Beach. Are there any more details?
