Flags at all state buildings have been lowered today in honor of a 40-year-old soldier from Yelm who was killed last week in Afghanistan.
Flags will remain at half-staff through the end of the day or first thing Wednesday morning, Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed.
The flags are lowered in memory of U.S. Army Master Sgt. Mark W. Coleman of Yelm. He was killed May 2 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit. He was a 22-year military veteran.
