One man was shot and three others were arrested on suspicion of obstructing officers Thursday night at a South End park.

The 30-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Tacoma police spokesman Ken Viehmann said Friday.

Neighbors reported hearing shots fired in the area of Ryan’s Park (formerly known as Celebration Park), around South 78th Street and Tacoma Avenue, just before 6 p.m. Officers responded and contacted several people who were reportedly uncooperative, Viehmann said.

Officers spotted several people loading the injured victim into the rear passenger seat of a vehicle. The car drove out of the area and was stopped by officers, Viehmann said. Officers found the victim, who was then taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Witnesses reported that the shooter – or shooters – left in a dark-colored sedan. The vehicle was not located and no arrests were reported in connection with the shooting.

At the shooting scene, officers detained and identified several uncooperative people. They found one handgun and arrested three people on suspicion of obstructing law enforcement, Viehmann said.
