A Tacoma elementary school was in lockdown Thursday afternoon while police investigated a home burglary nearby.

Arlington Elementary School at 3002 S. 72nd St. was placed on lockdown around 2 p.m. while police used dogs to search the area, according to Tacoma Public Schools spokeswoman Stacy Flores. The lockdown ended at 3:05 p.m., and class was dismissed at 3:30 p.m., the usual time.

Officers received a call at 1:15 p.m. about a burglary at a home on South Alder Street and South 70th Street, according to Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum. Upon arriving, officers spotted two males who fled. Witnesses also indicated there was a third burglar in his late teens who ran from the scene.

All three suspects are in custody, Fulghum said.
