A 26-year-old Bremerton man was injured late Saturday while walking along state Route 16 about six miles west of Gig Harbor, the Washington State Patrol reported.

A 19-year-old man was driving westbound on the highway just after 11:30 p.m. when he spotted the Bremerton man walking on the roadway. The driver swerved to avoid the pedestrian but hit him with the right front tire, troopers reported.

The Bremerton man suffered injuries to his left leg. His spouse took him from the scene for medical treatment.

The investigation was continuing.
