The Washington State department of Transportation remindsĀ  drivers that they must remove their studded tires by 12:01 a.m., Sunday.

Using studded tires after the deadline can results in a ticket and a $124 fine.

No one can guarantee ice- and snow-free roadways, so WSDOT encourages drivers, especially those heading into the higher elevations, to plan ahead and drive for conditions.

On the WSDOT Winter Driving Web site , drivers can find out about WSDOT’s winter roadway operations and alternatives to studded tires.
