Representatives from the state Department of Ecology, Tacoma Fire Department and a private spill-response contractor will be participating in a training exercise today near the Point Defiance Marina.

During the exercise, boats will be in the water, deploying and anchoring an oil containment boom, according to the ecology department. No oil has been spilled.

The participants will be doing spill preparedness training.

The training is scheduled to begin about 10 a.m. and will go for several hours.
