Police arrested a suspect in a Lakewood armed robbery Thursday night.
The robbery took place a little after 8 p.m. at the South Tacoma Village Shopping Center, on the 8800 block of South Tacoma Way, according to police scanner chatter. The female caller described a young black male 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a slim build, short hair and a silver handgun. The suspected robber was seen running in the center’s parking lot to a Jack in the Box.
Police shut down traffic on Steilacoom Boulevard SW at 8:30 p.m. to investigate.
At 8:42 p.m., an officer spotted the suspect at the 7200 block of South Tacoma Way and arrested him after a brief foot chase.
