A 29-year-old Bremerton man was killed early today when his car crashed into the back of a semi-truck parked along the shoulder of southbound State Route 167 in Auburn.

The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. just north of 15th Street Northwest, Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

Kin D. Beliakoff was driving south on SR 167 when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, the Washington State Patrol reported.

“The vehicle appeared to maintain freeway speeds as it slammed into the right rear portion of the semi trucks trailer,” a State Patrol press release states.

Beliakoff was pronounced dead at the scene, firefighters reported. The semi-truck driver told troopers he’d pulled off the road to look at directions. He was not injured.

Troopers are investigating what prompted Beliakoff to leave the roadway.

The crash did not blocking any lanes but the investigation shut down the right lane of SR 167 for about three hours.
