Federal Way police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Lakewood woman in a church Wednesday evening.

Around 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2415 South 320th St., and found one gunshot victim, a 38-year-old woman. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

Investigators determined that a 42-year-old Lakewood man, the victim’s husband, fired a handgun several times at her during a couples counseling session at the church. The suspect called 911 to report the shooting. He was arrested without incident.

Anyone with information on the homicide is encouraged to call 911 immediately.
