No one was injured last night when a semi-truck overturned on State Route 167 in Pierce County while trying to avoid an abandoned truck.

The accident occurred about 9:45 p.m., the Washington State Patrol reported.

The 46-year-old driver of the semi-truck was going south on State Route 167 near 24th Street East. A truck had been abandoned on the highway, troopers reported.

The semi-truck went to the shoulder to avoid hitting the abandoned truck, then drove back into the southbound lanes.

The semi-truck overturned and blocked both lanes of southbound SR 167.

The incident remains under investigation.

The semi-truck has been removed and the lanes are reopened.
