Law enforcement officers arrested 11 suspected drunken drivers during an emphasis patrol last week in Bonney Lake and Sumner and along Highway 410.
In addition, officers arrested eight drivers on suspicion of felony and misdemeanor drug charges and eight drivers on other misdemeanor and felony charges, the Tacoma-Pierce County DUI and Traffic Safety Task Force reported today.
The enforcement action took place Friday. Officers stopped 276 drivers.
“Our focus Friday night was to remove impaired drivers from the road who could have killed someone if we had not arrested them,” Bonney Lake Police Chief Mike Mitchell said in a press release. “Just as importantly, we removed quite a few other dangerous people from the community.”
Officers from the following agencies participated in the patrol Feb. 26: Bonney Lake, Sumner, Milton, Tacoma, Puyallup, Buckley, Sumner, Fife, and Lakewood Police Departments, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
