It appears another one of the suspected gang members sought in a sizable crackdown has been arrested.

He was booked into Pierce County Jail on Tuesday night.

That would make 12 gang members arrested Tuesday in a sweep. Four were still being sought. Others were already in Pierce County Jail, awaiting trial on other charges.

They are among 32 members of the Hilltop Crips charged in a criminal conspiracy case. Investigators and prosecutors allege the members were involved in a series of violent crimes in Tacoma since 2008.

Those in custody will be arraigned this morning on the charges.

A news conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Tacoma Police Headquarters. Law enforcement officials will be talking about the case.

UPDATE FROM ARRAIGNMENTS: The defendants are entering not guilty pleas. As the suspects are being arraigned, they are being ordered held on $1 million bail.

Security is tight in the courtroom. One of the defendants got upset and was escorted out. A supporter of one of the defendants has also been escorted from the courtroom.

  1. I think that this has been way over due ! These idiots have been in MY city to long. They are parisites on the folks that need help the most. Now that the authorities are zeroing in on the HTC’s ,hopefully, they will start after Eurotrash Gangs that have been hitting our city with alot more violence than the some of the other smaller asian gangs. Case in point, the breakins in the Lake Tapps area. These Russian/Ukrainian gangs are very dangerous and have been trained at very young ages to go after anyone that “snitches” on them. I have been hit twice by these criminals.

Anybody want to wager how many of these “suspected gang members” already have numerous previous run-ins with the law?

  3. Its funny, reading the TNT today, on the back page it listed all the crimes and the participants charged, I noticed all charged were young, ranging in age from 17 to 22. And at the bottom, it noted several others being charged with conspiracy, but didn’t commit any actual crimes. The ages of these people were mostly late 20s! So, its obvious its the young ones doing all the work by order of the older ones who have been in the group longer! Terrible! And I have zero sympathy for the Hernandez kid! He was tried as a juvenile cause they didn’t think he knew better! Guess he outsmarted is all, cause look what happened within the year he got out! And he killed a man for NO REASON! I was born and raised in Tacoma and when I hear stuff like this I have no tolorence!
