UPDATE: The lockdown at Lincoln High School ended at 12:45 p.m., a district spokesman said. Police told the district they were unable to locate the person they were looking for in the neighborhood.

Lincoln High School has been under lockdown for the past hour as Tacoma police search the surrounding neighborhood for a person who came to the school armed, a Tacoma School District spokesman confirmed.

Details were sketchy, but the lockdown began about 11 a.m. when a person approached the school at 701 S. 37th St. and a Tacoma police officer confronted the man, the spokesman said.

The man broke away from the police officer and ran out of his jacket, police told the school. Inside the  jacket, police found a weapon. The man fled into the surrounding neighborhood.

The lockdown means students are being kept in their classroom and no one is being allowed in or out of the school.

Tacoma police couldn’t be reached for more details.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available.

They need to fingerprint that weapon to find out who this degenerate is. Or check to see who’s absent cause it was probably one of their pupils.

“Or check to see who’s absent cause it was probably one of their pupils.”

    1. There are probably 150 kids or so absent every day at Lincoln
    2. It was not a Lincoln student, or the officer would not have challenged the suspect. It had to have been someone from off campus

Nice job of inferring that Lincoln’s kids are a bunch of thugs and gang bangers.

Kudos to the officer who made the initial stop.

The problem of violence in Tacoma schools has been ongoing since my oldest went to Stadium HS in the late 1980′s. Gangs were prevalent then.
Twenty years later my youngest now attends Stadium HS and had 4 shutdowns in one week.
Part of educating our youth is to have them in a safe enviornment.
Do we need new taxes for new improvements to school buildings? or do we need to make the ones we have be safer? The priority setting continues to be backwards for the last 20 yrs.

Ok, so not a Lincoln student. Likely from another of the Tacoma high schools/Gang HQ’s…

  7. cclngthr says:

It WAS a Lincoln HS student, who was suspended. KIRO reported it was a suspended student who was not supposed to be on campus.

My friend who runs Bill’s Tune Up Center across the street told me there were a lot of cops around his shop.

ITS A GOOD THING THE COPS GOT THE gun!!!!!!!!

  9. tacomakittie9 says:

This is why ALL high schools (well, at least Tacoma high school, because of all this crap…) should have metal detectors and background checks and stuff done on students. It’s ridiculous what’s been going on…

  10. metro_mello says:

Actually is WAS NOT a student. I go to Lincoln Highschool I know the full information thank you very much. So Please do get your facts straight. The threat on Tuesday was from a student who then got suspended. The one on Monday was a completely different person.

Thanks for sticking up for us Lincoln people wildben xD There are not a lot of wild thugs in Lincoln believe it or not. Most of te people here are very friendly. Some of them may not work hard or like to say they gang bang but you cant take a few and say since a few people do it we all do it. I know alot of people in that school who work hard and are friendly and kind. We definantly are not thugs. There are very few that are :)
