Emerald Downs will host a catered dinner and benefit auction this month to raise money for the children left behind when a domestic violence suspect opened fire on two Pierce County sheriff’s deputies in December.
Deputy Kent Mundell died from the injuries he suffered in the exchange Dec. 21 at a home near Eatonville. The suspect, David Crable, was killed at the scene.
The Emerald Downs event, Heros for Heros, is Saturday, Feb. 13 from 6 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $20.
The event will raise money for Mundell’s two children and Crable’s daughter, who was credited with helping law enforcement officers that night.
“Costs are kept low to encourage everyday heroes to come together and to show these children they are not forgotten and ensure a brighter future for all of them.,” a press release states.
