We’ve gotten a few calls about police activity at the corner of South Eighth and Proctor streets.

Tacoma police were serving an arrest and search warrant at a home on the corner. One man was arrested in connection with a financial crimes case. City code inspectors are boarding up the house because of health and safety violations, police report.

Animal control also had shown up in the neighborhood.

The man who was arrested – Terry Gaines – has been charged with eight counts of money laundering and 34 counts of trafficking in stolen property. Pierce County prosecutors filed charges Tuesday and issued a warrant.
