Pierce County investigators have arrested two men and recovered five stolen vehicles after a three-week investigation into stolen property.
The arrests were made Wednesday night with the help of the Washington State Patrol’s airplane, the Puyallup Police Department reported. The two, ages 21 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of possession of stolen property and trafficking in stolen property.
The investigation began with a tip from a confidential informant, police reported. The person told the Puyallup Police Department’s special investigations unit about motor vehicle thefts within the city and in the surrounding areas that were being committed by a suspect who lived in the 7800 block of River Road.
Investigators from Puyallup and the Pierce County Auto Theft Task Force recovered five vehicles that had been stolen in Puyallup and Tacoma, police reported. During a search of the suspect’s home, investigators found stolen property from several garage burglaries in the Glenbrooke Apartments.
During their investigation, detectives identified a second suspect believed to be involved in the thefts.
When the two were arrested, they had two-way radios. One also had a BB gun that was nearly identical to a real gun, police reported.
