Lakewood fire investigators have started combing through the remnants of three businesses heavily damaged in a fire Monday at a strip mall.

The fire inside Holly’s Thrift Store, a tire company and retail store at 8406 South Tacoma Way burned for hours Monday. The blaze was out about 7 p.m.  Firefighters remained at the scene overnight.

The investigators accessed the scene about 7 a.m., Lakewood fire Capt. Jenny Sharp reported.

Investigators do not suspect “anything suspicious,” Sharp said. The fire began inside the thrift store, which is the center of the strip mall. Flames spread quickly to Universal Tires and Wheels and the other business.

Fire and police investigators want to talk with all witnesses to the fire.

“There were customers in the store when the fire broke out and they (or anyone who witnessed the fire begin) are encouraged to contact (Lakewood police) at 253-830-5000,” Sharp said.
