Emphasis patrol nabs 15 suspected DUI drivers in Tacoma

Fifteen suspected drunken drivers were arrested during a weekend emphasis patrol in Tacoma, the Tacoma Police Department reported.

The Tacoma-Pierce County DUI Task Force sponsored the enforcement. Extra officers were patrolling the streets in Tacoma from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday, police reported.

The officers made 146 traffic stops.In addition to the 15 drunken driving arrests, the officers arrested:

* 1 person on suspicion of reckless driving.

* 2 people on suspicion of unlawful drug possession.

* 1 person on suspicion of unlawful drug possession with the intent to deliver the drugs.

* 1 on an outstanding warrant.

They also issued several citations.

    THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN. JUST THINK HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE OUT ON THE ROAD WITH WARRANTS?GET THESE IDIOTS OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE PEN WHERE THEY BELONG.

  4. Good job with regards to the catching the DUIs: If they came directly from a Bar, does the Bars get fined or license revoked?
