Gig Harbor police have arrested seven people in connection with a burglary ring that is suspected of victimizing  more than 20 people in Thurston and Pierce counties, the police department announced Tuesday.

Investigators have recovered four stolen rental trucks, one stolen gun and more than $80,000 worth of stolen property, a press release stated.

The investigation continues. Detectives are looking into identity theft reports from more than 60 people in the Gig Harbor area.

The investigation began during the week before Christmas when an organized ring of burglars hit several homes in the Gig Harbor and University Place.

“Timely follow-up on several witness observations led Gig Harbor Police Detectives to a Tacoma home that served as the hub for extensive criminal activity,” the press release stated. “In the process, the investigation revealed that the suspects were using stolen vehicles from a rental company in the commission of
these crimes.”
