A woman was hit and killed by an empty Amtrak train early today in Puyallup.

Puyallup police suspect the woman’s death was a suicide, Lt. Scott Engle said.

The accident occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Stewart Avenue. The woman was on the railroad tracks and walked into the train’s path. The train did not have the opportunity to stop, Engle said.

The woman, described as white and between 25 and 35 years old, has not been positively identified. Her family has not been notified of her death.

How very horrible for the woman’s family, for the train operators, for EMS and LEO responders, and for the Medical Examiner who had to retrieve her body.

How very sad that this woman found living to be so hopeless, that she chose to end her own life…and especially by involving others in her death.

Another suicide by train… Just an observation from a new citizen but…
Tacoma/Puyallup seem to bring this out in people and I don’t think the weather
has much to do with that fact.

How horrible …..and the family doesn’t know yet? What a sad shock beginning the New Year with her death. Pray for this family and others who have lost loved ones so recently.

Very horrible, one has to wonder if alcohol was involved with the hour it happened….could have been an accident if someone was drunk and ipod in ears..YIKE either way…just sad and those trains just fly by there its scary. My prayers to the family..

How much would it cost to fence in the rail road track?
