The public service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Tacoma Dome. The time has not been announced. In the next several days, the county plans to release more information about the ceremony, the procession before the event and transportation options.

Officials expect thousands of fellow officers, emergency responders and community members to attend.

Anyone interested in making a donation, visiting from an out-of-area law enforcement agency or Honor Guard or looking for more information can send an e-mail to or call 1-866-977-2362.

Volunteers are not needed at this time.
