Fife police have identified the 33-year-old man found dead in the Puyallup River last week but don’t have much information about what happened to him.

The body of Dustin Pedone was discovered in the river Dec. 2 near 51st Avenue East and Levee Road Northeast. Investigators are going to list his death as accidental drowning, Fife police Lt. Tom Thompson said Wednesday.

Thompson said investigators found no signs of foul play. However, they don’t know how Pedone got into the river and where.

Detectives searched the area¬† and talked to residents but none saw what happened to Pedone. Pedone’s family lives a short distance from where Pedone was found, Thompson said.

A couple of police officers reported seeing Pedone near the Clark’s Creek Bridge the night before. They did not contact him.

Thompson said anyone with information on Pedone’s whereabouts before his death should call him at 253-896-8287.
