A woman scared off an intruder in her Hilltop home early today after she yelled and fired a shot from her gun, Tacoma police reported.

The intruder wasn’t injured and ran out the back door. He has not been located, Tacoma police reported.

The incident occurred just after 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 2100 block of South L Street. The woman was in her living room when she heard noises at the back door, police reported.

She got her gun from her bedroom and went to investigate the noise. The woman found a man standing in her kitchen, police reported.

The intruder was about 6 feet tall and had a medium build. He wore a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, police reported.

The woman yelled and fired one shot from her gun. The shot hit the dishwasher.

The intruder fled. Officers searched the area for the man but no arrest was reported.
