The three men – two of whom are brothers – arrested so far in connection with Maurice Clemmons have all been booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of four counts of first-degree rendering criminal assistance for first-degree murder.

The third man, 47, is believed to be a half-brother of Clemmons, the Sheriff’s Department reported.

Two others are being detained – the suspected getaway driver, 43, and Clemmons’ sister. One of those arrested spent time in Arkansas prison but the term did not overlap with Clemmons, according to Arkansas Department of Corrections.

One of those booked into jail, Eddie Davis, is a 20-year-old  associate of Clemmons who also was charged with third-degree assault on a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy in May.

The deputy tried to arrest Davis and he fought back, according to charging documents.  The deputies were evenutally able to gain control over the three.

Eddie Davis pleaded guilty in September two counts of third-degree assault. He was sentenced to 63 days in jail and ordered to besupervised for two years by DOC.

He also was convicted in September of conspiracy to possession a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

In 2008, Eddie Davis and a 22-year-old man, Douglas Davis, were arrested and charged with drug dealing charges. They were two of six men charged in the investigation, which resulted after a confidential Tacoma police informant bought cocaine twice from another defendant.

Officers searched a home as part of their investigation and found the two Davis’ asleep in separate bedrooms. A safe containing cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana and cash was located in one of the bedrooms.

Douglas Davis pleaded guilty in January to unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

  1. crusader says:

Cocaine. Kind of explains how Clemmons gained the real estate holdings in short amount of time.

  2. Nice…more trash.

  3. I hope they enjoyed the last days they would have with their “Friend” or “Family member”.

I wonder what kind of conversations you have with someone that just gunned down 4 people in cold blood?
“Birds of a feather flock together”.

May this bring some kind of closure to the Family and Friends of those that lost their lives.

The accomplices deserve everything they get.
    Shame on them

  4. MonteCarlo says:

“Hey. Take me to Seattle, I just shot four cops.”

“Okay, first let me fill up and go grab my weed so we can smoke on the way there.”

What kind of logic is that? What is wrong with these people? This man gunned down four officers in cold blood and he has his whole family helping him to escape. Moral and ethics must not run rampant in this family’s gene pool.

They all deserve to go to jail. We could have more officers or civilians dead because of this family’s ignorance.

  5. Norwester4life says:

Make an example out of these losers.

  6. royr20410 says:

Here’s another example of a broken system. Assault 3 is a felony (assault on a cop), sales of coke, ecstasy etc… is a felony, conspiracy is a felony,.. The cops did their job, then the mopes get out in 63 days.. what’s up with that? Is that the standard sentencing range now for multiple felonies; 63 days??? Did that serve as a deterrent? Were they rehabilitated after the 63 days? Who was the judge that thought that was the best plan? Why aren’t these judges that we elect ever held accountable for the sentences they dole out (or don’t dole out)? The Tribune should have a section where the daily performance of judges is reported. I think that’s lots more valuable to the community than photos of kids playing in piles of leaves.. History will not judge us kindly…

  7. firecap81 says:

‘The Tribune should have a section where the daily performance of judges is reported’
You are 100% correct on that. But it won’t be a newspaper that does it. It would take an interested observer to start a blog or news letter. Some of these judges are completely out of control.

  8. slugoxyz says:

Clemmons is dead, there will come a time to fix the system and God willing, our fallen four will help catalyze these changes. Justice will come to those who rendered evil in this life or the next. But at this moment, our thoughts need to be with the fallen police officers’ families, their legacy and sending them home to God in a deserving fashion. I’m not sure we’ll be able to do them justice. They served us all in a job that so many take for granted. But it is our duty as citizens, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances to do our best. Give to funds that look to help their families. Honor them by being good to each other, obeying the law and thanking an officer even when your meeting is not of your choosing. Greg, Tina, Ronnie and Mark, go with God my friends. We’ll do our best down here to move forward without you but that journey will be uphill for a while.

  9. I too would like to see a section or blog devoted to the kind of sentences doled out to these losers and hold these judges accountable. We often vote for judges without really looking at their record, or don’t vote at all because we don’t know enough about their background. I also hope we don’t cut resources to our courts, jails and DOC. We spend a lot of money on anti-terrorism outside our borders, I would like to see a fraction of that devoted to our neighborhood safety and shoring up these cracks in the system.

  10. this all says a lot about the pierce county oenal system. catch and release, catch and release. hey the jails were too full so they gave them a little slap on the wrist. and then let them go so 4 people could be killed. good work judge.

  11. Thank god this scum has been eliminated from our midst…..some people are just born evil and will never conform to societal norms. We cannot spend tax payers dollars for years of rehab to just wait for him to molest another child or murder another human being. Anyone aiding and abedding needs to be locked up as well so they can think about what theyve done helping this animal when he’s been molesting children and killing people in cold blood. Theres something SERIOUSLY wrong with these people just as with HIM.

  12. Mayor_of_Gomorrah says:

Eddie Davis, Rickey Hinton and Douglas Edward Davis were all booked before or after midnight in the Pierce County Jail charged with 4 counts of rendering criminal assistance in furtherance if Murder First Degree and each of their bail is only $20,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look for yourself at the jail roster on the Pierce County Linx website.

Their family members are probably racing to the jail to get them out. Although the judge will probably lower it anyway.

  13. thucydides says:

This state has prison beds it can’t afford to open right now, and may be closing more because of the budget deficit. It’s easy to say “lock them all up” but when the $35K/year per person bill comes due people support Tim Eyman.

You all are trying to blame judges for the choices the voters of this state made. Typical “law & order” mentality- act tough and let someone else deal with the consequences.

  14. klthompson says:

At least the gene pool has been improved, if only a little bit.

  15. fivecardstud says:

remember to vote for Huckabee if he runs again.

  16. Crazy_Amish says:

what part of ‘dangerous to the public’ is acceptable to the public?

  17. ClownPosse says:

Congratulations and Great Job to Seattle PD, and all of the other agencies !

Now, one more job to finish, and that is removing Clemmons friends and family from the gene pool !

  18. Swordfish10 says:

Tacoma ranks 34th in the USA for crime rate, according to latest FBI data. This indicates a deep, cultural problem many people in this region have with law enforcement and law and order in general. The local predilection for Progressive / Liberal policies and attitudes are in no small measure accountable for this. Leftists will howl over this, but if not this, what ? 34th!

  19. I want to heartily agree with the comment that many outraged citizens will “agree with Tim Eyman” when they have to PAY for incarcerating the miscreants causing their outrage. At some point in time, we have to acknowlege that we, as a community, MUST pay for the services of our government. or we will lose those services. There is no such thing as a
    cost-free government.

  20. TO ROGER AILES C/O FOX NEWS
    Mr. Ailes-
It is time to fire Mike Huckabee.
I am a flaming conservative, moreso than Rush, and sometimes Savage. We have no tolerance for people of ANY party who lack any ability to properly judge a person’s character, especially when it results in the deaths of four police officers.
Huckabee presumed to be wiser than psychiatrists, judges, law enforcement officers, and the previous victims of Maurice Clemmons (now deceased). Huckabee assumed the power of the Lord himself by forgiving him and releasing him back upon the sheep of our society, ending in creating the most horribly violent day in Washington (State of) history. Were it not for Huckabee’s clemency of this murdering lunatic, who believed he was Jesus, Clemmons would have still been in prison in Arkansas. ALL 4 of the murdered police officers would still be alive and with their families (collectively they have NINE children) as would Clemmons himself. Five people are dead because of the historically poor judgement of Huckabee.
    Fire Huckabee now.
I won’t watch, or listen to anything he says anyway, and will encourage everyone I know to do the same.

  21. limebodog says:

I hope and pray they are not given serious sentances for aiding thier friend and brother Maurice Clemmons. I know most of us would aid our love ones in the same situation. Plus, they may have helped him out of fear, of what he would do to them if they didnt help him.

  22. Hmmmmmmmm, there’s a fine line between being loyal to a relative / friend AND “helping” a person who has murdered four police officers!! I can’t believe that was even stated.

God rest the fallen officers and their families.

God help the rest of the police, firefighters and medical people who are still out there to help us and put their lives on the line every day they go to work.

  23. Clarktribnet says:

I would not help anyone who had just murdered someone, Dad/mom/brother/sister doesn’t matter. If you think you would aid a person that you knew had committed a crime of such than you belong with them. Give them all life. They obviously come from the same garbage can.

  24. retired81 says:

With the type of activity these others were involved in; it looks like Clemmons wasn’t mentally messed, just a druggy.

  25. Shattah206 says:

Of course we have to pay for legitamate government services. Keeping scum like this off the street is one of the primary purposes of government. Those of us who vote to curtail spending want ridiculous socialist programs curtailed, NOT law enforcement & corrections. Keep the cops and stop translating every government document into 77 different languages (just one example of many ways governemnt wastes taxpayer $$). I do not want to stray too far off topic, but just had to challenge statements that proponents of lower taxes bring situations like this on. Puh-lease. Sniveling liberals who want to coddle criminals bring this on.

  26. retired81 says:

Italian Spring: Huckabee did not release Clemmons. Clemmons was recommended for clemency by a 5 member state board. His sentence was reduced which made him “eligible” for parole. A 7 member paroled board granted him parole. He later violated his parole and was taken back into custody, but apparently the prosecutor screwed the paperwork up and he couldn’t be charged with anything. His last year here has been even worse. He was let out on bail, even though he had 7 felonies pending and that he was surely aware that he would be put in prison for life as a three time offender. Blame game or politics? The last people to blow it are right here in Washington. BTW– I would have to believe that there is going to be some new policies on the Lakewood Police Department. Stay in your patrol areas and don’t be doing anything in public that would be a distraction from your total awareness. Do it before you hit the streets.

  27. Remember the names of these Superior Court judges:

    Thomas Felnagle

    John McCarthy

They’re the reason Clemmons was out free to kill cops.

  28. limebodog – Wish you were kidding but you’re not. I for one would NOT aid and abet a murderer, especially a cop killer. And no, they were NOT motivated by fear. They willingly gave him the help he wanted then sent him on his way.

  29. to Mayor of Gomorrah: Relax … bail plus probation hold for DOC hearing. They’d better get comfy in jail.

  30. slugoxyz, well said and I fully agree. As for the ones blaming voters and Eyman here’s a way to pay for the prison beds. Redirect the MANDATORY 1% of all construction spending for “art” back to core services like public safety. Thats one of MANY waste mandates this state has in place. If the judges were that concerned over space, then they would be speaking out through the WSBA and taking the county and state to task. Washington state has lost its priorities, judges included. Our lawmakers would rather be building $300,000 metal flowers “art” next to the freeway in the middle of nowhere(already in process), build tunnels at twice the cost even after the voters said NO, and let our public safety suffer because we wont raise taxes to pay for it. Until the core priorities in this state are addressed, none of these issues will see improvement more than a temporary bandaid.

  31. snarl2 – Couldn’t agree with you more. With friends/accomplices like limebodog, who needs police officers and a criminal legal system?
