UPDATED: One of the slain Lakewood officers identified

One of the four Lakewood police officers killed this morning has been identified on Facebook and by one Eastern U.S. television station as Mark Renninger.

Renninger grew up in Lehigh Valley, Pa., according to WFMZ’s Web site.

Renninger’s family told the WFMZ station they are too grief stricken to comment. He was born and raised in Bethlehem and was in the military.

Earlier today, a Facebook page was created in memory of Renninger, with many posters offering their support to his widow and children.

The Pennsylvania station said Renninger was one of six siblings.  One brother is a former Easton, Pa., police officer.

Renninger was a member of the Lakewood SWAT team, according to the Washington State Tactical Officers Association’s Web site.

“I attended the academy with Mark in 1996 and I still remember what a great guy (he) was,” one person wrote on the Facebook page.

“It was my honor to know Mark,” another person wrote. “The world is lesser place with his loss. My deepest sympathies to his loved ones.”

UPDATE: Another Facebook page has been created for the four fallen Lakewood police officers.

    God be with the families of the slain officers and the investigators as they attempt to put this situation to rest. May God work on the suspect to turn himself in. Our prayers go out for all persons and families and friends of the
    Lakewood officers connected to this tragic occurence.God will comfort all who ask him.
