Lakewood police are searching for a man who tried to lure a 16-year-old girl into his car this morning near her bus stop.

The girl refused. She told Lakewood police she’d never seen the man, Lakewood police Lt. Heidi Hoffman said.

The teen told police a man in a late model, silver hatchback contacted her about 6:15 a.m. near 146th Street Southwest and Woodbrook Road Southwest.

The man asked the girl if she wanted a ride and she declined. The man drove away but then did a U-turn and came back, Hoffman said.

The man asked the girl her name, age and other questions. He then ordered the girl to get into the car. She said no. He made the demand she get in the car a second time.

“At this time, something may have spooked him because he drove off,” Hoffman said.

The girl described the man as white, 20 to 30. He had short hair, was clean shaven and wore all black clothing.

My 15 yo niece tells me that everytime she makes her mile walk home from school in Parkland at least 5-6 guys stop and ask her if she wants a ride.

That’s because if you are female and you walk on the streets anywhere in PierceCty, Tacoma, or Lakewood, someone assumes you are a hooker. Even females driving by yell things out their window at you. It’s disgusting. Sorry everyone. NOt all of us have a car to drive and just because we may be walking on the street it doesn’t mean we are “street walkers”. Lay off!!

  5. This young lady did exactly what she should have done.
However a tube whistle is a good thing at times.
Now if we could help the teens not be lured by
commercialism and materialism maybe we’d all be better.
