Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old boy with three counts of vehicular assault after he allegedly hit two motorcycles while speeding along Spanaway Loop Road South on Saturday afternoon.

The charges were filed Monday against the teen. He remains in Remann Hall juvenile detention pending a hearing next Monday, Pierce County deputy prosecutor Fred Wist said today.

A man and woman were injured in the crash just before 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 12300 block of Spanaway Loop Road South.

Witnesses told Pierce County sheriff’s deputies the teen, who was driving an Oldsmobile Alero, was speeding and driving erratically. He then crossed over the center line, clipping one motorcycle and hitting a second. Two people on the second motorcycle were injured and transported to St. Claire Hospital in Lakewood for treatment, deputies reported.

The teen, who also was injured, told deputies he lost control and had not been speeding or under the influence of any drugs or alcohol, according to the police report.

The News Tribune typically does not name juveniles who are charged with crimes.

  1. I wonder if this is the same magazine sales group that the Washington State Attorney General told us not to buy from because their office couldn’t confirm the legitimacy of the company. The group reportedly goes around selling magazines to support their college educations.

  2. oops…last post was ment as a comment to the asaulting magazine salespeople!

  3. Raise the driving age to 18.

  4. Drek2305 says:

Why raise the driving age? Most of these idiots learn their driving habits from their parents.

  5. What’s the difference between “clipped” and hit? I’ve heard this kid has had other driving concerns. When will the state quit giving out licenses to IDIOTS?
