A lahar drill will take place in the City of Orting sometime this week so officials can practice what they’d do in case of an emergency.

The drill will occur sometime today, Wednesday or Thursday, Pierce County officials announced this week. The exact time is being withheld “in an effort to achieve greater authenticity and facilitate safer outcomes,” a notice from the county states.

Three outdoor sirens will sound when the drill begins.

The city conducts drills every year to prepare and practice for the volcanic event or other natural disasters.

  1. Howzabout a Lahar drill at the NWDC so we can see how long it takes to move 1575 people?
