Big rig nearly ends up in Puyallup River

KIRO-TV has photos of a traffic mishap on Levee Road this morning. Seems a tractor-trailer plunged over an embankment and nearly ended up in the Puyallup River. The driver wasn’t hurt, but traffic on Levee Road was tied up for a while.

We’re wondering what impact it will have on the fishing.

There is no room for error on this stretch of road. Even at 25 I cringe when a big rig passes me in the opposite direction. I bet that was a sight to see, glad the driver is ok, but I know he is surely shaken up.

Fife’s poor excuse for a truck route. No guard rails, narrow roadway, no shoulder, and a high crown in the road. There isn’t enough room for 2 trucks to pass each other. The corner guard rail at 54th and Levee is crashed into as soon as it is fixed.

North Levee Road was never intended to be a commercial truck route when built. It’s a Dike with a little bit of asphalt they call a road. It’s barely safe for cars to drive on it.

Where our our city and county building officals when it comes to local impact fees and mitigation for improving the roads these trucks drive on?

With more Warehouses and no other routes to take putting large trucks on a road that was built as a single lane road then widened a little to handle two lanes of CAR traffic is a tragedy waiting to happen.
